Gadot remembered experiencing weeks of debilitating headaches while eight months pregnant. In February, she underwent an MRI that revealed a blood clot in her brain, requiring emergency surgery. She wrote: In one moment, my family and I faced how fragile life can be. It was a stark reminder of how everything can turn around so quickly, and in the midst of a difficult year, all I wanted was to hold on and live.

Just before her surgery, in an otherwise dark time frame, her daughter Ori was born, full of light. Gadot revealed that the meaning of her daughter’s name, “Ori,” means literally “my light” bringing hope and resilience in.

Gadot thanked warmly the team of doctors working at Los Angeles’ Cedars Sinai Medical Center, where she received care so that she could recover; she also used her story to advocate for listening to one’s body and acting on these concerns.

“As we celebrate Hanukkah, a holiday of light and miracles, I reflect on the personal miracle I was granted. My daughter, Ori, is a constant reminder of resilience, hope, and the strength we carry within,”* she wrote.

Gal Gadot and her husband, Jaron Varsano, welcomed Ori in March 2024. The couple, married since 2008, are also parents to Alma (born in 2011), Maya (2017), and Daniella (2021).

Gadot concluded her message with a wish for her followers to find their own light, experience miracles, and prioritize their health.
