In the latest episode, PM with Mann Ki Baat speech made an emotional tribute to centennial year of legendary Telugu actor, Akkineni Nageswara Rao (ANR), saying ANR was one of the first iconic personalities in Indian cinema. PM Modi further stated that ANR had taken Telugu cinema to greater heights, and he had enormously popularized Indian tradition and values through his films.

The Prime Minister of India, Mr. Modi, described the greatness of Akkineni Nageswara Rao Garu, the main force behind Telugu cinema, who successfully became the voice of Indian traditions and values. Members of the Akkineni family, including Nagarjuna, Naga Chaitanya, and Sobhita Dhulipala thanked the Prime Minister for his tribute.
Naga Chaitanya’s Statement”The Prime Minister, Mr. @narendramodi ji, really gave us a big relief with his kind words regarding my father’s, Akkineni Nageswara Rao Garu, centenary year. His hard work and contributions to Indian cinema inspire generations, and this recognition is really an award for our family and thousands of his work admirers.
Sobhita Dhulipala joined her husband, Nagarjuna, in his heartfelt message of gratitude for ANR. He expressed: “Blessed with incredible artistic talent, conducted decades ago, Akkineni Nageswara Rao Garu was indeed a major influence in creating the illustrious Telugu film industry today. Thank you, Modi ji, for kind realisation of it. Specially, super-special from you. So grateful.”
Awarded the Padma Vibhushan in 2011, ANR has made a career spanning over seven decades in Telugu cinema. His last released film was Manam in 2014 in which three generations of the Akkineni family appear, including Nagarjuna and Naga Chaitanya.
