Friends star Jennifer Aniston fulfilled her civic duty by casting her vote for the 2024 U.S. Presidential Elections, using her Instagram platform to encourage fellow citizens to support candidates she believes align with values of health care access, reproductive rights, and a fair economy.
In her post, Aniston expressed pride in voting for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz, sharing, “Today not only did I vote for access to health care, for reproductive freedom, for equal rights, for safe schools, and for a fair economy, but also for SANITY and HUMAN DECENCY. Please remember that whoever you are and wherever you live, your voice matters. Your VOTE matters.”
Acknowledging differing political perspectives, she continued, “I know we don’t agree on everything, and that is the beauty of this country, but GOOD LORD aren’t you tired of this negativity towards each other? The intimidation and constant threats? Let’s end this era of fear, chaos, and attacks on our democracy. Vote for someone who will unite us, not divide us.”
Accompanying her message was a selfie featuring her “I voted” sticker on her T-shirt, and a reminder of the value of this democratic opportunity. “We are so lucky we get to VOTE, and this election is in our hands! We only have one week until Election Day. Talk to your friends, your family, your neighbors, and let’s find our way back to each other with respect, common cause, and LOVE.”
Other celebrities like Selena Gomez, Mandy Moore, and Jessica Alba have also shared their voting experiences. According to CNN, more than 50.5 million Americans have already voted, either by mail or through early in-person voting.
In Washington State’s Clark County, seasonal workers are monitoring ballot boxes around the clock after fires destroyed some ballots in the Pacific Northwest. Meanwhile, CNN’s latest polls show that Harris and Donald Trump are running close in key battlegrounds Arizona and Nevada, as the U.S. presidential polls approach on November 5.
