Actor Tabu made a striking appearance at the New York premiere of her anticipated series Dune: Prophecy, a prequel to Denis Villeneuve’s Dune films. Tabu captivated onlookers in a bold, black Angrakha-inspired ensemble crafted by renowned Indian designers Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla. Her outfit featured a reimagined “Crushed Silk” design, created from pure Khadi silk and showcasing an intricate crushed texture an artisanal technique honed over nearly 40 years.
On the red carpet, Tabu expressed her admiration for the designers, saying, “It is a custom-made dress. It has taken a month to create… It is by Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla, the most celebrated designers in India. I love them.” Her elegant look left a lasting impression, complementing the grandeur of the event.

Tabu joined co-stars Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, and Travis Fimmel on the red carpet. Dune: Prophecy, set 10,000 years before Paul Atreides’s rise, follows two Harkonnen sisters as they confront forces threatening humanity’s future, laying the groundwork for the legendary Bene Gesserit sect. The series will stream in India on JioCinema Premium, though its release date remains under wraps.
Tabu plays Sister Francesca, a character portrayed as “strong, intelligent, and alluring,” whose return to the palace as a former love of the Emperor unsettles the capital’s political balance. The Dune: Prophecy ensemble cast includes Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, Travis Fimmel, Johdi May, Mark Strong, and several other acclaimed actors.
