The music industry is mourning the loss of British singer Lauren Bennett, whose voice became instantly recognizable through LMFAO’s chart-topping anthem Party Rock Anthem. Bennett has died at the age of 36, according to a statement shared by her former girl group G.R.L. No official cause of death has been disclosed. G.R.L. confirmed the heartbreaking news on social media, remembering Bennett as someone whose warmth, kindness and infectious spirit left a lasting impact on everyone around her. “Our hearts are broken,” the group wrote, adding that they would forever treasure the memories they shared with their bandmate.
Although the announcement came this week, former Paradiso Girls member Aria Crescendo had earlier hinted at Bennett’s passing in an emotional tribute posted around what would have been the singer’s birthday. Sharing personal photos together, Crescendo expressed her wish that Bennett had been there to celebrate.
Bennett first gained attention as a teenager after appearing on the U.K. version of The X Factor. She later joined the pop group Paradiso Girls, formed by music executive Jimmy Iovine and Pussycat Dolls founder Robin Antin. Her career reached new heights in 2011 when she provided the memorable hook and bridge on LMFAO’s smash hit Party Rock Anthem. The song became a global phenomenon, spending six weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and topping charts in more than 20 countries.
She later became a member of G.R.L., performing alongside the group on several projects, including the Pitbull collaboration Wild Wild Love. The group went on hiatus following the tragic death of member Simone Battle before eventually reuniting for a brief period.
In 2017, Bennett embraced a different musical direction by forming the country and folk duo BENNETT with her brother. She continued sharing her love for music with fans, and her final social media upload earlier this year featured her heartfelt rendition of These Boots Are Made for Walkin’.
Throughout her career, Bennett also collaborated with artists including will.i.am and CeeLo Green, building a diverse musical legacy that spanned pop, dance, country and soul.
As tributes continue to pour in from fans and fellow musicians, Lauren Bennett is being remembered not only for lending her voice to one of the biggest party anthems of the 2010s but also for the joy and positivity she brought to those who knew her. Her music remains a lasting reminder of the talent she shared with the world.
