Ruby Rose has shared a painful health update after a freak accident at home left her hospitalized with multiple broken ribs. The actress took to Instagram Stories to post security camera footage of the incident, showing herself accidentally misjudging the edge of her swimming pool before crashing into the side of it. The impact sent her into the water, and she could be seen clutching her ribs as she swam to safety.
“RIP to my ribs, and to the rest of my summer,” Rose joked alongside the clip. “They are broken, multiple. Straight to the hospital.”
The 40-year-old later updated fans on Threads, explaining that she had fractured two ribs on the right side of her body.
“One second I’m here talking to you. The next I’m in the hospital with two broken ribs,” she wrote, adding that she now has to use a breathing device as part of her recovery.
Replying to a fan who had experienced a similar injury, Rose admitted the pain has been overwhelming, describing it as the “holy fire of hell.”
Fortunately, the actress appears to be recovering, although the injury is expected to sideline her for much of the summer.
Rose first rose to international fame after appearing in Netflix’s Orange Is the New Black before taking on the lead role of Kate Kane in Batwoman. She later exited the DC series after its first season, initially citing the physical demands of the role and a serious back injury. Warner Bros. Television later disputed those claims, stating that the actress had been let go following multiple complaints about her workplace conduct.
Beyond television, Rose has appeared in several major action films, including John Wick: Chapter 2, Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, xXx: Return of Xander Cage, Pitch Perfect 3 and The Meg.
In recent months, Rose has also been in the headlines after publicly accusing singer Katy Perry of sexually assaulting her in a Melbourne nightclub in 2010. Perry’s representatives strongly denied the allegations, calling them false, while Victoria Police confirmed that a historical sexual assault investigation remains ongoing.
For now, however, Rose’s focus appears to be on healing. While she managed to find some humor in the mishap, her latest update makes it clear the accident has brought an abrupt halt to her summer plans as she recovers from the painful injuries.
