Savannah Guthrie Announces New ‘Wordle’ Game Show Amid Ongoing Search for Missing Mother

Savannah Guthrie has officially confirmed she will host a new “Wordle” game show while continuing to cope with her mother Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance.

Savannah Guthrie has officially confirmed her next major career move, revealing that she will host a new game show based on the massively popular puzzle game Wordle. The announcement was made during Monday’s episode of the Today, where Guthrie appeared alongside Jimmy Fallon, who is executive producing the project.

“We’ve been holding in a secret between us for a long time now,” Guthrie said excitedly on-air.

Fallon praised Guthrie as the “perfect host” for the show, joking that they needed “someone who looks like they play Wordle” while also complimenting her ability to run a program smoothly.

The upcoming series, inspired by the viral word puzzle owned by The New York Times Company, is expected to begin filming this summer.

Reports about the adaptation first surfaced in late 2025, but Monday marked Guthrie’s official confirmation.

Despite the exciting career news, the television host acknowledged that life remains emotionally overwhelming as her family continues searching for her missing mother, Nancy Guthrie.

“When everything happened with me and my family, they just stopped everything and said, ‘We’ll wait for you,’” Guthrie shared emotionally, thanking the production team for supporting her during the difficult period.

“Everything is strange right now,” she admitted. “It’s strange to get up and do the ‘Today’ show every day, and it’s strange to say that I’m going to do a game show when your heart is broken.”

Nancy Guthrie, 84, disappeared from her Arizona home earlier this year, leading Savannah to temporarily step away from television for several months.

In previous statements, Guthrie emotionally acknowledged that her mother “may already be gone,” while insisting the family would never stop searching for answers.

She eventually returned to the Today show in April, telling viewers, “Ready or not, here we go.”

Over Mother’s Day weekend, Guthrie also posted a heartfelt tribute on social media dedicated to her missing mother.

“We miss you with every breath,” she wrote. “We will never stop looking for you.”

Her husband, Michael Feldman, also praised her publicly, calling Guthrie “the strongest person” during the ongoing family crisis. While Guthrie prepares to step into the world of game show hosting, it’s clear the emotional weight surrounding her mother’s disappearance continues to follow every major moment in her life.
