Bobby Deol recently spoke about his successful comeback project Aashram while promoting his upcoming film Bandar. The actor shared details about how he reacted when he first heard the narration of the series and why he initially kept it secret from most of his family members.
Bobby appeared on Shekhar Tonite hosted by Shekhar Suman, where he spoke openly about the early days of the project. He revealed that he only informed his wife, Tanya Deol, about the series because of the bold scenes and sensitive content involved.
Talking about the matter, Bobby said, “First of all, when I heard the story I didn’t tell my father, my mother, or even my brother. I only told one person – my wife. I had to tell her; otherwise, if she found out later, I would’ve been in trouble.”
The actor also credited Tanya Deol for supporting him during a difficult phase in his career. He shared, “Whatever I am today is because of my wife. When I was going through a bad phase, she handled the entire house. I think she is my backbone.”
Earlier, Bobby had also explained why he decided to take up Aashram even though the role was very different from his earlier image on screen. Speaking about the project, he had said, “I knew I wasn’t going to be offered hero roles anymore. That is why when I accepted this show I did not tell anyone. I was waiting for the show to come out and then see their reaction.”
The series, directed by Prakash Jha, received strong reactions from viewers after release. Despite playing a negative character, Bobby Deol’s performance was widely appreciated and became an important turning point in his career.
The actor also shared that he has always wanted to play characters with different personalities and shades instead of sticking to only one type of role.
On the work front, Bobby Deol will next be seen in Bandar, directed by Anurag Kashyap. The film also stars Sanya Malhotra, Sapna Pabbi and Saba Azad.
Apart from this, Bobby is also part of Alpha starring Alia Bhatt and Sharvari. He will also appear in the upcoming Amazon Prime Video spy thriller series Teen Kauwe alongside Sidhant Gupta.
