Luck Films and Novice Records have released the trailer of their upcoming musical romantic comedy Seven and a Half Dates, which is scheduled to release on May 24. The series stars Karan Wahi and Surbhi Jyoti in the lead roles and will feature 8 original songs.
The project also marks the writing and directorial debut of Shaalien Malhotra, who is mainly known for his acting work. The series has been jointly directed by Shaalien Malhotra and Suyyash Rai.
Seven And A Half Dates is an eight episode romantic drama set in today’s digital world, where dating apps and online conversations shape modern relationships. The story follows Aadar, a disciplined and highly organised app creator, and Aaina, a carefree late night radio jockey with a completely opposite personality.
Their lives unexpectedly cross paths because of a dating app error. What starts as awkward conversations and arguments slowly develops into a deeper emotional connection. As the story moves forward, the two characters experience moments of closeness, misunderstandings, emotional silence and self reflection.
The series also touches upon modern relationship issues like ghosting, fear of commitment, trust problems and emotional insecurity. Instead of presenting a perfect fairytale romance, the show focuses on how two very different individuals try to understand each other while dealing with their personal fears and emotional baggage.
The makers also appear to have given special attention to the musical aspect of the series, with 8 songs being included as part of the storytelling. The emotional and romantic moments shown in the trailer suggest that music will play an important role in shaping the mood of the narrative.
At its core, Seven And A Half Dates is about how love often exists somewhere between control and chaos, especially in modern relationships shaped by technology and emotional uncertainty.
