Munawar Faruqui’s journey on The Traitors Season 2 came to an unexpected end on the very first day. The comedian and reality star was eliminated after contestants targeted him during the opening episode. Munawar had revealed that he was an innocent, but he felt that the other contestants were not actually trying to find a traitor. Instead, he believed they wanted to remove him from the game because they considered him a strong competitor.
Amazon Prime Video has now released a deleted scene featuring Munawar’s complete elimination speech. During the emotional moment, Munawar explained why the decision affected him so much and said that being targeted by people he had trusted was something he had experienced before in his life.
Munawar said, “They were not finding the traitor, but they wanted to get me out. Their insecurities have come out in public. I love trusting people! This has happened to me in life too! When I am being true and tried to say that, people could not see that.”
He then directly addressed Abhishek Malhan and suggested that the former Bigg Boss OTT 2 contestant was being extra careful because of his previous reality show experience. Munawar said, “Abhishek Malhan, ek baar tu burn ho chuka hai, kisi aur bade celebrity ke sath. Ek baar tu thoda jal chuka hai toh uske baad tu risk nahi lega (you have faced the burn in a previous show where you lost to a big celebrity. You will not take that risk again, I know).”
Abhishek had finished as the first runner up in the Bigg Boss OTT Season 2 finale in 2023. He lost the trophy to wildcard contestant Elvish Yadav. Munawar appeared to suggest that this previous experience influenced Abhishek’s strategy on The Traitors.
During his elimination speech, Munawar also spoke about how he expected to become an easy target. He said, “I had expected this to happen to me. I knew I would have to face it. This often happens to me. It is not the first time. This is not the first time that I have been targeted. Call me a soft target or someone too good to be there. I can clearly see through the insecurities of other people, and you will see how end up looking. Because your insecurities will be visible. You approached me as a friend and heard me out, but now you wrote my name here. Thank you for that.”
The actual traitors at the beginning of the season were Kullu, Krystle D’Souza and Harman Singha. Shahneel Gill was later recruited as the fourth traitor during the second episode. Harman was eventually caught during the third episode.
