Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairytale, a Netflix release on November 18, takes us deep into the life of South Indian superstar Nayanthara. In the documentary, some of Nayanthara’s peers like veteran actor Nagarjuna, while talking about their own experience working with Nayanthara, mentioned the 2006 Telugu film Boss.
Nagarjuna on Nayanthara’s Aura and Turbulent Relationship
Nagarjuna described his first impression of Nayanthara as someone with an “aura of royalty” and an infectious warmth, saying, “This is a person I would like to be friends with.”
While shooting a song in Switzerland, Nagarjuna pointed out she was in what he termed a “turbulent relationship.”. He recalls how her mood would plunge whenever her phone rang and asked her why she put herself through such emotional strain. “I remember asking her, why are you doing this to yourself? You’re an accomplished woman.”
Though he didn’t reveal the identity of the person she was seeing, Nayanthara was reportedly dating a popular Tamil actor at the time.
Nayanthara on Her First Relationship
Nayanthara spoke about how emotionally dented her first relationship left her and how it was actually a relationship more based on trust than love.
She shared: *”You just believe the other person is also in love with you. More than love, it’s trust. And you give it your all.”
The actor expressed her pain over the speculation surrounding her private life, saying: “It broke me when people assumed stories about it. Till today, no one has asked any of the boys what happened.”
Controversy with Dhanush
Her relationship with director Vignesh Shivan, which started on the sets of Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, was also touched upon. Controversy surrounded this documentary as actor-producer Dhanush, who produced the film, refused permission to use behind-the-scenes footage in the documentary.
Reports claim that Dhanush had insisted on ₹10 crore for a 3-second clip in the trailer of the movie. In response, Nayanthara and Vignesh released an open letter and video scolding the actor for asking for such a high amount.
