Netflix Bets Big on Harlan Coben Again as Colin Woodell, KJ Apa and Diane Guerrero Join Myron Bolita

Netflix expands its Harlan Coben universe with Myron Bolitar, starring Colin Woodell, KJ Apa and Diane Guerrero in a sports thriller that could become the streamer’s next major hit.

Netflix clearly isn’t done cashing in on the Harlan Coben formula. After more than a dozen successful adaptations and hundreds of millions of views worldwide, the streaming giant is returning to one of the author’s most beloved characters with Myron Bolitar. This time, the spotlight falls on Colin Woodell, who will lead the series alongside KJ Apa and Diane Guerrero. Unlike many of Coben’s stories that revolve around missing people and buried family secrets, Myron Bolitar brings something different to the table.

At its center is a former basketball player whose dream career ends before it truly begins, forcing him to reinvent himself as a sports agent. But this isn’t a feel-good underdog story. In true Coben fashion, the sports business becomes a playground for crime, corruption and dangerous secrets, where solving a client’s problem could easily become a matter of life and death.

Woodell has quietly built a reputation for handling emotionally layered roles, making him an intriguing choice for Myron. Meanwhile, KJ Apa steps away from his long-running teen drama image to play the wealthy yet fiercely loyal Win Lockwood, arguably one of the most iconic characters in Coben’s literary universe. Diane Guerrero rounds out the trio as Esperanza Diaz, the sharp, no-nonsense former wrestler who keeps Myron’s agency from falling apart.

Netflix isn’t taking any chances behind the camera either. Veteran television creator David E. Kelley joins forces with Suits writer Kyle Long, while acclaimed director Greg Yaitanes will helm multiple episodes. That combination suggests the series could lean as heavily into character drama as it does into suspense.

The bigger story, however, is Netflix’s unwavering confidence in Coben. Few authors have enjoyed this level of consistency on the platform. Rather than chasing flashy franchises or endless reboots, Netflix has quietly turned Coben into one of streaming’s safest bets. Audiences know exactly what they’re signing up for: fast-moving mysteries, morally messy characters and enough twists to keep social media guessing every week.

If Myron Bolitar successfully blends the tension of a crime thriller with the high-stakes world of professional sports, it could become one of Netflix’s strongest franchise launches in years. More importantly, it proves that while superhero fatigue may be real, viewers still have plenty of appetite for smart, character-driven thrillers that know how to keep a secret until the very end.
