Filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani is set to make his streaming debut with the upcoming series Pritam and Pedro. Known for films that combine humour, emotions and human stories, Hirani will now bring his storytelling style to the long format digital space for the first time.
The makers recently unveiled the first poster of the show, which has already created curiosity among viewers. The poster features an abandoned ATM placed on a beach with two men standing beside it. While the image gives very little information about the actual story, it hints at a quirky and unusual setting.
Pritam and Pedro is directed by filmmaker Avinash Arun. According to the makers, the series will explore an unpredictable world while keeping most details about the plot hidden for now. The show is scheduled to premiere on July 3.
Talking about the project, Rajkumar Hirani shared that he has always enjoyed stories where completely different people are forced to come together and deal with unexpected situations. Speaking about the series, he said, “ I’ve always enjoyed stories where very different people are forced to come together and navigate life in unexpected ways. Pritam and Pedro have a lot of humour, warmth and madness in that sense. The long format space gave us the opportunity to spend more time with the characters and really explore their journey. It’s been an exciting experience, and I’m happy to partner with JioHotstar for it.”
The series marks an important step for Hirani, who is known for successful films such as Munna Bhai MBBS, 3 Idiots, PK and Sanju. His move into the OTT space has attracted attention among audiences who have followed his work over the years.
At the same time, reports about another possible Rajkumar Hirani project have also been circulating. Hirani and Ranbir Kapoor had previously worked together on Sanju in 2018, which became a blockbuster at the box office. Since then, fans have been waiting for the duo to collaborate again.
According to recent reports, Rajkumar Hirani and Ranbir Kapoor are expected to reunite for a biopic based on an athlete. However, reports suggest that the project has been delayed and may now begin only in 2027. An official confirmation regarding the film is still awaited.
