Loads of love .” The post delighted fans, many of whom fondly recalled the actor-director duo’s cinematic triumph.

However, Jr NTR’s sweet gesture came just hours after reports emerged suggesting he has opted out of the much-talked-about Dadasaheb Phalke biopic, which was to be produced by SS Rajamouli and directed by his son, Karthik Rajamouli. According to a Bollywood Hungama report, multiple factors influenced the actor’s decision to walk away from the project.

“Firstly, at the moment NTR doesn’t want to play a real-life character, and that too a legend from the past,” a source was quoted as saying. “Secondly, the Phalke biopic was not to be directed by Rajamouli himself, but by his son Karthik. Most crucially, Aamir Khan is also working on a Dadasaheb Phalke biopic directed by Rajkumar Hirani, and doing a similar film would serve little purpose.”

Adding to the complications, a Mid-Day report claimed that Jr NTR’s unavailability due to prior commitments also played a role in his decision. The team reportedly approached Prabhas next, hoping to reunite him with Rajamouli after the Baahubali saga. However, Prabhas too appears unavailable, given his packed schedule with high-profile projects like Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Spirit and Nag Ashwin’s Kalki 2898 AD: Part 2, which are expected to keep him busy well into 2026.

Meanwhile, Jr NTR is currently immersed in the production of his upcoming pan-India action spectacle Dragon, helmed by KGF director Prashanth Neel. The film, being mounted on a grand scale, is rumoured to feature Rukmini Vasanth and Tovino Thomas in pivotal roles, setting the stage for another explosive cinematic event from the South.

Randhawa took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his sorrow in an emotional note written in Punjabi. “Hearing the news of the sudden demise of Punjab’s famous bodybuilder and actor Varinder Singh Ghuman ji has left my heart very saddened. With his hard work, discipline, and ability, he illuminated Punjab’s name across the world. May Waheguru ji grant his soul eternal peace and give strength to the family to bear this sorrowful blow,” he wrote.

Former Indian Hockey Team captain Parjat Singh also mourned the loss, remembering Ghuman as a disciplined and devoted vegetarian who achieved greatness through dedication. “He built his body with grace and inspired many. May Waheguru bless his soul,” he shared.

According to The Tribune, Ghuman died during treatment at Fortis Hospital in Amritsar. A senior doctor confirmed he passed away around 5:30 PM on October 10.

Varinder Singh Ghuman was a pioneer in Indian bodybuilding, gaining nationwide fame after winning the Mr. India title in 2009 and securing second place at Mr. Asia. Known for promoting a vegetarian lifestyle in a field dominated by meat-based diets, Ghuman broke stereotypes and inspired a generation of fitness enthusiasts.
