The highly anticipated Pushpa 2: The Rule has taken the box office by storm since its release earlier today, but its screening on Wednesday evening at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad was overshadowed by a tragic incident.
A massive crowd had gathered outside the theatre to catch a glimpse of the film’s lead actor, Allu Arjun, who attended the screening with music director Devi Sri Prasad. Chaos ensued as fans surged toward the venue, leading to the collapse of the theatre’s main gate. Amid the chaos, a 35-year-old woman tragically lost her life, and her 9-year-old son sustained serious injuries. Despite the efforts of law enforcement to control the situation, the stampede turned fatal.

Reacting to the heartbreaking incident, the film’s producers took to social media to express their sorrow. In a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter), they wrote, “We are extremely heartbroken by the tragic incident during last night’s screening. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and the young child undergoing medical treatment. We are committed to standing by them and extending all possible support during this difficult time. With deep sorrow, Mythri Movie Makers .”
The tragedy has cast a shadow over the film’s otherwise spectacular opening, prompting discussions about crowd management and safety measures at large-scale public events. Fans have also called for stricter regulations to prevent such incidents in the future.
