Varun Dhawan: MAIN TERA HERO success is for dad

Varun Dhawan is a happy man. His second film and only the first solo affair MAIN TERA HERO has not just found audience for itself, but it has also enhanced his fan-base in quickest time possible. However, instead of basking in its glory and gleaming with all the appreciation and accolades, Varun credits it all to his dad David Dhawan, who has directed the film.

'Guess audiences were looking for brand David Dhawan to entertain them on the screen and we gave it to them,' smiles Varun.

To juggle everything from action, comedy, romance, dancing and emoting wasn't really a cakewalk for Varun, considering his bare minimum experience in front of the camera.

'It wasn't easy to do the kind of things that I have done in the film,' says Varun, 'This is where dad's experience came into picture. He knew exactly what he wanted from each and every scene. He is an experienced campaigner and a genius. He didn't want me to get into this superhero mode and wanted a believable character. He knew from the beginning that I won't be beating up 40 people at a time. After all, people had to relate to Seenu (his character in the film) and believe that what he did was possible.'

With the film doing well and added moolah expected in the weekdays too with a couple of holidays thrown in, Varun is a relieved man.

'Honestly, I was very nervous before the release. I wasn't sure whether the film would open to such numbers, considering so many films in recent past with good credentials hadn't done well. Still, to have film doing well in the weekdays too is a positive sign indeed. I am happy,' signs off Varun on a cheerful note.
