Awarapan 2 Box Office: Emraan Hashmi’s Film Crosses ₹100 Crore In Just Five Days

Awarapan 2 has crossed ₹100.75 crore in five days, becoming Emraan Hashmi’s first ₹100 crore solo lead film and nearing ₹150 crore worldwide.

Emraan Hashmi’s Awarapan 2 has made a strong start at the box office after releasing in theatres on August 14. The romantic action thriller opened alongside Sunny Deol’s Batwara 1947 and has managed to maintain steady collections during its first five days. The film has now entered the ₹100 crore club and is also getting close to the ₹150 crore mark worldwide.

According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Awarapan 2 has collected ₹100.75 crore in total net earnings in India after five days. The film started its theatrical run with ₹22 crore on Friday. Collections increased to ₹33.75 crore on Saturday before reaching ₹26 crore on Sunday. The film then earned ₹9.25 crore on Monday and ₹9.75 crore on Tuesday.

On Day 5, the movie recorded an overall theatre occupancy of 28.24% across 11,000 shows. Morning shows recorded 12.15% occupancy, while afternoon shows reached 25.54%. Evening shows had 29.46% occupancy, while night shows recorded the highest figure at 43%.

The film’s total domestic gross collection has now reached ₹120 crore. Its worldwide box office collection currently stands at ₹144.13 crore. Based on the current pace, the film is expected to cross the ₹150 crore worldwide mark today.

Reportedly made on a ₹45 crore budget, Awarapan 2 has already recovered more than twice its reported production cost through ticket sales. The film has therefore emerged as a successful theatrical release for its distributors.

The movie also marks an important milestone in Emraan Hashmi’s career. Awarapan 2 has become his first ₹100 crore film as a solo lead. Hashmi has previously been part of ₹100 crore blockbusters including Tiger 3 and They Call Him OG, but those films featured him as part of larger ensemble casts.

The success of Awarapan 2 is also connected to the popularity of its 2007 predecessor. The original Awarapan did not perform strongly in theatres when it was released, but gained a loyal following over the years because of its emotional story and popular music. That nostalgia appears to have helped create interest in the sequel.

Directed by Nitin Kakkar, Awarapan 2 opened to positive reactions, with viewers praising Hashmi’s performance and the film’s music. The cast also includes Disha Patani, Shabana Azmi, Survinder Vicky and Puran Gabbi in important roles.
