Television actor Sumbul Touqeer, best known for her role in Imlie and her stint on Bigg Boss 16, has recently become the target of online body-shaming. The actress, who is active on social media, took to her Instagram to express her frustration with the trolls and address the comments regarding her appearance. Sumbul, visibly upset, stated, “I’ve been reading many comments and tweets from a few Victoria’s Secret models about my weight and appearance, and I can say that I’ve never been more mad in my life.” She politely but firmly asked the trolls to stop, saying, “If you think I’m ruining my life, let me. I know what I’m doing, and I’m tired now.”
Explaining the Weight Gain
In her post, Sumbul also took the opportunity to clear the air about her recent weight gain. She revealed that it was a result of medication prescribed by a neurologist and psychiatrist, which did not suit her. “P.S. The reason for my sudden weight gain was medication prescribed by a neurologist and a psychiatrist, which did not suit me. SHUT UP NOWWWWW!!!!,” she added, making it clear that she does not wish to tolerate further comments on the matter.

Sumbul’s Career Journey
Sumbul Touqeer began her acting career in 2014 with supporting roles in shows like Har Mushkil Ka Hal Akbar Birbal and Jodha Akbar. She made her Bollywood debut with a small role in Article 15 (2019) before landing the lead role in Imlie, a breakthrough moment in her career. Her portrayal of a young village girl in Imlie made her a household name, and she became widely popular, especially for her chemistry with co-actor Fahmaan Khan.
In 2022, Sumbul participated in Salman Khan’s Bigg Boss 16 and was the highest-paid contestant. She finished in seventh place. Recently, Sumbul played the lead role in Kavya Ek Jazbaa, Ek Junoon opposite Mishkat Varma, with the show concluding in September 2024.
