Khloé Kardashian recently shared that she did not tell her family about her initial melanoma diagnosis after losing her father, Robert Kardashian, in 2003. On her Khloé in Wonderland podcast, the reality TV star revealed that she was 19 when she was diagnosed with the deadliest type of skin cancer shortly after her dad died from cancer of the esophagus at 59 years old.
“First time I ever had skin cancer, I was 19,” Khloé remembered. “I did not even mention to my family that I was worried about anything because I did not want to freak anyone out. I knew that I needed it taken off and I would be okay.” She acknowledged that then she didn’t really comprehend the gravity of the diagnosis. “I drove myself to the doctor, had all this skin taken off, and that is it. I did not even think much of it.”
A Recurrence Years Later
In 2022, Khloé felt a recurring bump on her face, which she initially thought was cystic acne. “I tampered with it for more than a year. I had facials, consulted various people, but nobody thought it was abnormal,” she stated. A biopsy later established that it was melanoma once more—this time on her cheek.
The star had surgery conducted by a family friend and plastic surgeon. “They have to cut out not only the tumour but also surrounding healthy skin so that it does not spread,” she said. “The terrifying part is that they do not know how much to take out until they begin cutting.” She continued, “Fortunately, they got it all the first time.”
