War 2’s Collections Crash Below Rs 10 Crore: Is it the End of the Road for Hrithik Roshan’s Film?

War 2 Box Office Day 5: Racing Ahead But Struggling to Recover Costs

Siddharth Anand’s adrenaline-fueled spy thriller War 2 opened to a deafening roar at the box office, but the film is already witnessing a decline. After opening with a humongous ₹52.5 crores on Day 1 and an even bigger ₹58.85 crores on Day 2, the movie recorded a huge drop in collections over the next three days. Day 3 earned ₹34.25 crores, Day 4 garnered ₹33.65 crores, and Day 5 plunged sharply to a mere ₹8.5 crores. That puts the five-day India net at ₹187.75 crores.

Outpacing Raid 2, Pursuing Housefull 5

In spite of the divided reaction, War 2 has been able to overtake the lifetime total of Raid 2, reaching the fifth position in the all-time list of top-grossing Bollywood movies of 2025. The subsequent target for the Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR-directed film will be to overtake the ₹198.41 crores that came in at the end for Housefull 5. That target looks within reach, yet the film’s long-term potential is still in doubt.

Negative Word-of-Mouth and Mid-Week Blues

The largest test for War 2 is now generating momentum. With negative word of mouth spreading around and weekdays arriving, footfalls will continue to dip further. Big budget action fares typically bank on heavy repeat business in order to carry momentum after the initial weekend, but initial trends point toward War 2 coming short.

Recovery Appears Elusive

Produced on a mind-boggling budget of ₹325 crores, War 2 has managed to recover just 58% of its cost in 5 days so far. The India gross is at ₹221.54 crores today, but the safe zone—where the film becomes profitable—remains elusive. Without a strong showing in the overseas market or an unexpected second wind at the ticket windows, the losses could prove massive for YRF’s ambitious spy franchise.

War 2 Box Office Summary (Day 5 – All Languages)

India Net: ₹187.75 crores

Budget Recovery: 58%

India Gross: ₹221.54 crores

What Lies Ahead

The next few days will determine the fate of War 2. Although the film has given massive numbers, the disconnect between expenses and revenues makes it a Herculean task to recover. With competition from other impending releases, maintaining screens and attendance may become even more challenging. Currently, War 2 is a box office showstopper—but one that could find it difficult to turn a profit.
