After a highly publicized tour of international film festivals, ‘Homebound’, starring Janhvi Kapoor, Ishaan Khatter, and Vishal Jethwa, is set to release in theatres around the globe on September 26, 2025. The movie, helmed by Neeraj Ghaywan and backed by Karan Johar, has already raised a lot of buzz among both critics and fans.
Global Acclaim and Festival Success
Homebound premiered at the Un Certain Regard segment of the Cannes Film Festival 2025 and received a nine-minute standing ovation, a record. It also found success in the Toronto International Film Festival, with the film receiving acclaim for its gripping storytelling as well as high-quality performances, especially Ishaan Khatter, whose performance is now being labelled as one of his best.
A new poster of Ishaan and Vishal Jethwa was unveiled with the release date announcement. After the cinematic release, Homebound can be streamed on Netflix to reach a wider global audience. The film is directed by Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, and Somen Mishra and chronicles Ghaywan’s continued journey of exploring human emotions and social intricacies in contemporary India.
