The trailer for the third season of the Netflix series XO, Kitty has been released, offering a preview of the next chapter in the story of Katherine “Kitty” Song Covey. The upcoming season, scheduled to premiere on April 2 on Netflix, follows Kitty as she begins her final year at the Korean International School of Seoul, commonly known as KISS. The trailer highlights both new developments and familiar faces, including the return of Kitty’s older sister, Lara Jean.
The series, which serves as a spin-off of the To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before franchise, continues to explore Kitty’s experiences living in Seoul while attending an international boarding school. In the upcoming season, Kitty hopes to make the most of her senior year and begins by creating what she calls a “summer sunset” bucket list. The list includes several goals she wants to achieve before graduation, such as attending a traditional Chuseok dinner, working on college applications, and figuring out the future of her complicated relationship with Min Ho.
The trailer suggests that Kitty’s plans may not unfold as smoothly as she hopes. One scene shows her attempting to have a serious conversation with Min Ho during a gondola ride. However, their discussion is suddenly interrupted by a phone call, leaving their relationship unresolved. In another moment, Kitty accidentally spills green juice on Eunice, hinting that awkward and unexpected situations may continue to shape her senior year at KISS.
Min Ho, played by Sang Heon Lee, remains a central figure in Kitty’s storyline. The trailer also introduces viewers to his father, Mr Moon, portrayed by Philippe Lee. In one scene, Mr Moon warns Kitty that although she may have good intentions, she is trying to fit into a world she does not fully understand. The comment reflects the cultural and personal challenges Kitty continues to encounter while studying in Seoul and navigating friendships, relationships, and expectations within a different cultural environment.
A new character is also introduced in the upcoming season. Actor Sule Thelwell joins the cast as Marius, who appears in the trailer during a competitive beer pong match against Kitty and Min Ho. His arrival adds another dynamic to the social environment of the school and suggests that Kitty’s circle of friends and rivals may expand during her final year.
One of the most notable moments in the trailer is the appearance of Kitty’s sister, Lara Jean, played by Lana Condor. Lara Jean is a central character from the original film series, and her appearance marks the first time she has appeared in the spin-off. In a conversation with Kitty, she offers advice about relationships and personal choices, encouraging her sister to continue moving forward regardless of the outcome of her relationship with Min Ho. The scene emphasizes the bond between the sisters and connects the spin-off series more directly to the original film trilogy.
Other cast members returning for the third season include Minyeong Choi, Gia Kim, Anthony Keyvan, Regan Aliyah, Hojo Shin, Peter Thurnwald, Joshua Lee, Sasha Bhasin, Michael K. Lee, Jocelyn Shelfo and Sunny Oh. The ensemble cast continues to portray the diverse group of students and adults connected to the KISS community.
Season three also brings changes behind the scenes. Valentina Garza joins the series as the new showrunner, replacing Jessica O’Toole. Garza also serves as a writer and executive producer for the upcoming season. Meanwhile, the creator of the series, Jenny Han, continues to be involved as an executive producer along with Matt Kaplan and Bradley Gardner.
With its combination of returning characters, new additions to the cast, and a storyline centered on Kitty’s final year at KISS, the third season of XO, Kitty is set to continue exploring themes of identity, relationships, and cultural adjustment when it premieres in April.
