Aamir Khan and Mansoor Khan have recently reunited for Ek Din, and they may already be thinking about their next project. The two are considering adapting Mansoor Khan’s novel One: The Story of the Ultimate Myth. However, the project is still at a very early stage, and no final decisions have been made.
In a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter India, Aamir Khan shared that he likes the book and its characters. He said, “I love what the book is saying, and I love the characters he’s written not just the two lead characters, but all the characters actually. I think it’s a fantastically written book.” He also explained that adapting the book into a film may not be easy. He said, “It’s not an easy book to adapt to a screenplay but I have been telling Mansoor for the last few years since I read the book that this is something I would like to work on. Now, whether we succeed in converting it into a screenplay that works for us, I don’t know.” He added, “I certainly want to give it a shot,” and mentioned that after Ek Din releases, he plans to spend time with Mansoor Khan in Coonoor to work on ideas for the adaptation.
Ek Din is produced by Aamir Khan and features his son Junaid Khan along with Sai Pallavi in her first Hindi language film. The movie is based on the 2016 Thai film One Day. It tells the story of a man who quietly loves a woman but never expresses his feelings, until a situation gives him one day to live that reality.
Aamir Khan also spoke about the sequel to 3 Idiots. In a conversation with Amar Ujala, he confirmed that the project is being developed. He said, “Raju is working on 3 Idiots 2 right now. I’ve heard the story and it’s wonderful.” He added, “The script still needs some work, but the story itself is really good unusual, with the same humour as the first film. It follows the characters from 3 Idiots, picking up 10 years later.” He also expressed interest in returning to his role, saying, “It’s a beautiful story conceived by Raju and Abhijat. I’m looking forward to it, and to playing Phunsukh Wangdu again.”
These updates show that while Aamir Khan is focused on current projects, he is also planning future work, though many details are yet to be finalised.
