Jamie Spears made a rare public appearance over the weekend as he attended his granddaughter Maddie Aldridge’s high school graduation in Louisiana. The 73-year-old was photographed in a wheelchair during the ceremony, nearly two years after having his right leg amputated following severe medical complications. Jamie was joined by several members of the Spears family, including ex-wife Lynne Spears, daughter Jamie Lynn Spears, son-in-law Jamie Watson, granddaughter Ivey, and grandson Sean Preston Federline.
Maddie, 17, is Jamie Lynn’s daughter with former fiancé Casey Aldridge.
Photos from the event showed Jamie dressed in a gray suit while sitting in his wheelchair as family members celebrated Maddie’s graduation. At one point, Jamie Lynn’s younger daughter Ivey was seen pushing her grandfather through the crowd.
Jamie Lynn also became emotional during the ceremony and was photographed wiping away tears as Maddie walked across the stage to receive her diploma.

Notably absent from the event was Britney Spears, although her eldest son Sean Preston attended to support his cousin. He was seen holding a sign featuring Maddie’s face and the words, “Look who’s graduated.”
Jamie Spears’ health struggles became public in late 2023 when reports revealed he underwent a leg amputation after complications stemming from a knee replacement surgery.
At the time, sources claimed he developed a severe infection that led to multiple unsuccessful surgeries before doctors ultimately determined amputation was necessary as a last resort.
The family gathering comes during another difficult chapter for Britney Spears herself.
The singer recently pleaded guilty to a reduced “wet reckless” charge tied to her March DUI arrest in California. She also completed a rehab treatment program in April following what insiders described as a difficult emotional period.
According to reports, Jamie has allegedly expressed interest in reconnecting with Britney following her recent legal troubles. However, sources close to the singer claim she remains deeply uncomfortable with the idea due to their complicated history surrounding her conservatorship.
Jamie was officially removed as Britney’s conservator in 2021 after years of public legal battles and intense scrutiny over his role in controlling the pop star’s personal and financial affairs.
Despite the family tensions, the graduation appeared to be a rare moment of togetherness for several members of the Spears family.
