Katy Perry took the stage at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on Friday night as part of the opening ceremony for the 2026 World Cup. The singer delivered a performance in front of a global audience as the tournament officially got underway in the United States. For the event, Perry wore a silver floor length dress from Stella McCartney’s FW26 Ready to Wear collection. The outfit featured a dramatic waistline and appeared to be made with long metallic strands, creating a striking look for the opening ceremony.
During her performance, Perry sang “Wonder,” a song from her 2024 album “143.” The performance became even more notable when she was joined by a special guest, 10 year old Tius from Norway.
A day before the ceremony, Perry introduced Tius through a video shared on TikTok. Explaining how the collaboration began, she wrote, “That little voice you’re listening to right now is Tius.”
She further shared the story behind the young singer’s connection to the song, writing, “Tius recorded his part on ‘Wonder’ when he was 5 years old in 2021. I heard his vocal in 2023 and was inspired to write the verses for ‘Wonder’ and added it to my sixth album.”

Perry also revealed how the young singer became part of the World Cup performance. She wrote, “Tius is 10 now and flew all the way to LA from Norway to sing this song with me on Friday at the World Cup ✨⚽.”
The performance was part of a larger lineup of artists participating in opening ceremonies across the tournament’s host countries. Perry’s segment also featured appearances from singers including Tyla and Anitta. The United States ceremony was one of three opening events connected to the World Cup, with separate celebrations taking place in Mexico and Canada.
Away from the stage, Perry has also been in the spotlight for her personal life. She has been linked to former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau since December. Earlier this week, the pair made a public appearance together at the premiere of Perry’s concert film during the Tribeca Film Festival.
As the tournament begins, Perry’s performance provided one of the first major entertainment moments of the 2026 World Cup, combining music with a personal story that introduced millions of viewers to a young singer from Norway.
