Actor Bhumi Pednekar has joined the cast of The Pride Of Bharat: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, a 2 part historical film directed by Sandeep Singh. The project is based on the life of the legendary Maratha ruler Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, with Rishab Shetty playing the lead role. The film is expected to present key moments from Shivaji Maharaj’s life while bringing together several important historical figures from that period.
In the film, Bhumi will play the role of a courageous queen from Karnataka who is remembered for defending her fort against the forces of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj around 1678. According to the makers, the queen fought with remarkable determination and led an army of 2,000 women soldiers during the battle. Her story is considered one of the lesser known chapters of Indian history, and the film aims to bring her bravery and leadership to a wider audience.
