Spider Man: Brand New Day has continued its strong run at the Indian box office, crossing the Rs. 400 crore mark on its ninth day of release. The film collected Rs. 17 crore on its second Friday, including Rs. 14 crore nett, showing a 5-10 per cent increase compared with the previous day.
With 3D collections included, the film’s actual gross total has reached around Rs. 445 crore. The latest numbers have put Spider Man: Brand New Day in an elite group, as it has become only the third Hollywood film to cross the Rs. 400 crore mark in India.
The film had recorded noticeable drops during the weekdays of its first week. While that raised some questions about its box office trend, the business has picked up again with the arrival of the second weekend. Hollywood films often see stronger collections during weekends, and Spider Man: Brand New Day appears to be following that pattern.
The film is expected to collect more than Rs. 75 crore during its second weekend, with the possibility of reaching above Rs. 80 crore. The bigger question now is how quickly it can move to the top of the list of the highest grossing Hollywood films in India.
By Sunday, the film could surpass Avengers: Endgame and potentially even Avatar: The Way of Water. If it does not cross those films by Sunday, it is expected to reach the milestone on Monday. After that, the movie is projected to cross the Rs. 500 crore mark and could eventually finish somewhere between Rs. 550-575 crore.
So far, Spider Man: Brand New Day has collected Rs. 334.75 crore nett, Rs. 405.75 crore gross and Rs. 444.75 crore gross including 3D collections.
The day wise nett collections were Rs. 58.50 crore on Thursday, Rs. 47.00 crore on Friday, Rs. 68.00 crore on Saturday, Rs. 75.00 crore on Sunday, Rs. 22.50 crore on Monday, Rs. 20.50 crore on Tuesday, Rs. 16.25 crore on Wednesday, Rs. 13.00 crore on Thursday and Rs. 14.00 crore on the second Friday.
The film’s second weekend performance will now determine how quickly it reaches the next major milestones and whether it can claim the top spot among Hollywood releases in India.
