Spider Man: Brand New Day continues its strong run at the Indian box office. The Tom Holland starrer added Rs. 7.50 crore on its second Wednesday, recording a 25 per cent drop compared with Tuesday. With this collection, the film has earned Rs. 120.25 crore in its second week so far.
The superhero film is expected to collect around Rs. 127 crore to Rs. 128 crore by the end of its second week. This would take its two week running total to around Rs. 520 crore gross at the Indian box office. The film has already achieved a major milestone by becoming the highest grossing Hollywood film of all time in India.
The film still has considerable time left in theatres and could potentially cross the Rs. 600 crore gross mark. However, its performance over the next two weeks will be important. The film will face competition from Batwara 1947 and Awarapan 2, which could affect its collections as new releases arrive in cinemas.
Spider Man: Brand New Day has been classified as an ALL TIME BLOCKBUSTER based on its exceptional box office performance. Only a small number of Hollywood films have reached this level in India since Jurassic Park in 1994. The list includes major titles such as Titanic, Avatar, The Jungle Book, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame and Avatar: The Way of Water.
Other possible contenders for the same category include Spider Man 3, 2012 and Furious 7. The current performance of Spider Man: Brand New Day has also raised the possibility of the film reaching 2 crore footfalls in India. So far, only Titanic and Avengers: Endgame have crossed that level, while the Tom Holland film has recorded around 1.7 crore admissions.
The film collected Rs. 323.25 crore nett and Rs. 391.50 crore gross in its first week, with Rs. 429.50 crore gross including 3D. In the second week, it earned Rs. 18.00 crore gross on Friday, Rs. 37.00 crore on Saturday, Rs. 39.00 crore on Sunday, Rs. 8.50 crore on Monday, Rs. 10.25 crore on Tuesday and Rs. 7.50 crore on Wednesday.
With these numbers, Spider Man: Brand New Day has reached Rs. 511.75 crore gross, while its gross including 3D stands at Rs. 562.00 crore. The next two weeks will decide whether the film can push towards the Rs. 600 crore mark.
