Salma Hayek has entered a new chapter in her personal life as she becomes a grandmother for the first time. The actress’s stepson, François Pinault Jr., and his wife, Lara Cosima Henckel von Donnersmarck, recently welcomed their first child, a baby boy. Hayek shared her happiness with fans on Instagram on Sunday by posting a video in which she can be seen holding her newborn grandson. The baby appears to react as Hayek talks to him, with what sounds like a small laugh heard in the clip.
“We are blessed to welcome the fourth living generation of Francois’,” the Frida star wrote in the caption. She then revealed the sweet name she plans to use for the baby. “Although I will call him Panchito. He seems to love it, and I cannot love him more.”
The baby’s mother, Lara Cosima Henckel von Donnersmarck, 23, also shared several family pictures on social media. The photos showed her spending time with her newborn son and husband François Pinault Jr., 38. One picture showed the new mother lying beside her baby on a picnic blanket, while another captured her holding him.
Other pictures showed Pinault Jr. taking care of his son, including feeding him a bottle and changing his diaper.
“my husband (the world’s coolest françois) … and our son ( the world’s cutest françois) … our first month as parents🐣,” Henckel von Donnersmarck wrote alongside the pictures.
It is not known when the couple got married. Henckel von Donnersmarck announced their engagement in March after the couple had been dating for a year.
Hayek married François Henri Pinault, 64, in 2009. The couple share an 18 year old daughter, Valentina. Pinault also has two other children, Mathilde, 25, and Augustin, 19, from previous relationships.
Hayek has previously spoken about her wish to have a larger family. During a 2017 interview with Red magazine, she discussed her experience of becoming a mother and the fact that she had wanted several children.
“I’ve had that yearning, that longing, and that pain,” she said. “I always wanted to have a lot of children, and I was not able to. My body, as a miracle, had one.
“The huge blessing I’ve had is that my husband has three other children. So I have four. And they are all so different.”
With the arrival of her grandson, Hayek now has another new family role to celebrate.
