Awarapan 2 Box Office: Emraan Hashmi Film Crosses Rs. 100 Crore In Just 6 Days

Awarapan 2 collected Rs. 6 crore on Day 6, taking its 6 day total to Rs. 106 crore nett and becoming Emraan Hashmi’s biggest solo grosser

Awarapan 2 continues its strong run at the Indian box office. The Emraan Hashmi starrer collected Rs. 6 crore nett on Day 6, Wednesday, recording a 36 per cent drop compared with the previous day. With this collection, the romantic action drama has taken its 6 day total to Rs. 106 crore nett in India.

The film, backed by Vishesh Films, is now expected to finish its first week with a collection of around Rs. 112 crore. The performance is particularly significant for Emraan Hashmi as Awarapan 2 has become the actor’s biggest solo grosser so far. Overall, the film is currently behind Tiger 3, in which Hashmi played the main antagonist.

The film could see another rise in collections during its second weekend. There is no major release expected to create strong competition for the movie during the weekend, giving Awarapan 2 more space to attract audiences. The film is expected to have a relatively clear run until Toxic arrives on August 26.

How far Awarapan 2 can go will largely depend on how well it performs during its second week. If the film manages to maintain steady collections after the weekend, it could continue adding significantly to its overall box office total.

The day wise box office collections of Awarapan 2 in India are Friday Rs. 22.50 crore, Saturday Rs. 33.00 crore, Sunday Rs. 26.00 crore, Monday Rs. 9.00 crore, Tuesday Rs. 9.50 crore and Wednesday Rs. 6.00 crore. This takes the total to Rs. 106.00 crore nett.

The success of Awarapan 2 is also notable because it follows the 2007 original, which did not perform well when it was first released but later developed a strong cult following. The success of intense romantic stories and music driven films in recent times also helped bring renewed attention to the style of cinema associated with Hashmi.

Hashmi was one of the leading stars of this genre during the 2000s and early 2010s, with films such as Murder 2, Raaz 3, Jannat 2 and Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai. His box office performance declined later in the decade, but the renewed interest in romantic dramas eventually helped lead to Awarapan 2.

The film’s current performance makes its journey unusual. A sequel to a film that was a DISASTER has now emerged as a HIT and could potentially move towards becoming a blockbuster if it maintains its momentum in the coming weeks.
