The film Bhooth Bangla, starring Akshay Kumar, is continuing its steady performance at the Indian box office. On its third Sunday, the movie collected around Rs. 5.50 crore nett, which helped it close its third weekend with a total of about Rs. 14.50 crore nett. This shows a drop of less than 50 per cent compared to the previous weekend, which is considered a strong hold, especially as the film is facing competition from Raja Shivaji in Maharashtra and nearby regions.
After completing three weeks in theatres, the total collection of the film in India has reached approximately Rs. 136.50 crore nett. The film is also doing well internationally. It has earned around USD 5.50 million, which is about Rs. 52 crore, in overseas markets. This brings its total worldwide box office gross to around Rs. 216 crore.
Based on its current performance, Bhooth Bangla is expected to cross the Rs. 150 crore nett mark in India soon. If the film continues to attract audiences even after its fourth week, it may go on to reach around Rs. 160 crore nett. With these numbers, the film has already been declared a HIT. It is the third successful Bollywood film of the year after Border 2 and Dhurandhar 2. In terms of profits, Bhooth Bangla is currently ranked second this year, performing better than Border 2 because that film had higher production costs.
For Akshay Kumar, this success is important. In recent years, especially after the pandemic, he has had a series of films that did not perform well at the box office. Last year showed some improvement, with three films doing reasonably well, though none were major hits. Now, Bhooth Bangla has given him a clear HIT.
The performance of actors like Akshay Kumar is important for the film industry. While he may not always deliver very high earning films like Rs. 500 crore grossers, consistently delivering two or three successful films in a year helps keep the box office active. Compared to many other actors who release fewer films, Akshay Kumar’s regular releases play a key role in maintaining audience interest. Only a few actors like Ajay Devgn have a similar level of consistent output.
Here is a simple look at the film’s box office numbers. In week one, the film collected Rs. 80.50 cr. In week two, it earned Rs. 41.50 cr. In the third week, it collected Rs. 4.50 cr on Friday, Rs. 4.50 cr on Saturday, and Rs. 5.50 cr on Sunday. This brings the total to Rs. 136.50 cr.
