Main Vaapas Aaunga Defies The Odds With A Strong Third Weekend

Main Vaapas Aaunga collected Rs. 43.55 crore in 17 days, maintaining a strong hold at the box office despite competition from new releases.

Main Vaapas Aaunga, directed by Imtiaz Ali and starring Diljit Dosanjh, Naseeruddin Shah, Vedang Raina, and Sharvari, continued its steady run at the Indian box office during its third weekend. The romantic drama collected Rs. 10.80 crore nett over the weekend, showing only a 10 per cent drop compared to its second weekend. The film managed to maintain its collections despite facing competition from the newly released Welcome To The Jungle.

After 17 days in theatres, Main Vaapas Aaunga has collected a total of Rs. 43.55 crore nett in India. The film is now expected to cross the Rs. 50 crore mark by its third Wednesday or Thursday if it continues its current pace. This is a significant achievement considering the film had an opening day collection of around Rs. 1 crore. Strong word of mouth and positive audience response have helped the film maintain steady collections over the past few weeks.

Although the film has performed better than expected after its slow start, it still needs to continue attracting audiences to strengthen its overall box office performance. Based on current trends, trade estimates suggest that Main Vaapas Aaunga could finish its theatrical run with collections between Rs. 65 crore and Rs. 70 crore nett. However, reaching that figure will depend on how well the film performs in the coming weeks, especially with several new releases arriving in cinemas.

The film’s overseas performance will also play an important role in its overall box office journey. Reports suggest that Main Vaapas Aaunga has received limited international screenings, which has affected its collections outside India. Despite positive reviews and audience appreciation, the film may find it difficult to reach higher overseas earnings. At present, a final overseas collection of around USD 3 million is considered a realistic target.

The box office collections for Main Vaapas Aaunga in India are as follows:

Week One: Rs. 11.50 crore

Week Two: Rs. 21.25 crore

3rd Friday: Rs. 2.65 crore

3rd Saturday: Rs. 4.00 crore

3rd Sunday: Rs. 4.15 crore (estimated)

Total: Rs. 43.55 crore

The coming weekdays will be important for the film as they will determine whether it can continue its steady performance and move closer to the projected lifetime total. Its strong hold during the third weekend has helped keep its box office run on track despite increased competition.
