Varun Dhawan’s latest release, Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, continued its run at the Indian box office during its second weekend. Starring Varun Dhawan, Mrunal Thakur, and Pooja Hegde in lead roles, the comedy drama collected an estimated Rs. 2.75 crore on its second Sunday. With this, the film’s second weekend total reached Rs. 6.85 crore nett.
Directed by David Dhawan, the movie witnessed a significant decline in collections compared to its opening weekend. According to box office estimates, the film recorded a drop of around 70 per cent during its second weekend, indicating a slowdown in audience footfalls after its initial release phase.
After 10 days in theatres, Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai has collected Rs. 42.75 crore nett at the Indian box office. Based on current trends, the film is expected to cross the Rs. 45 crore mark within the next few days. However, trade projections suggest that the movie may conclude its theatrical run at around Rs. 50 crore nett.
If the film finishes around that figure, it will earn less than Varun Dhawan’s previous release Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari. Despite generating some interest during its opening weekend, the latest film has not been able to maintain strong momentum at the box office.
The day wise collections of Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai are as follows:
Day 1: Rs. 7.50 crore
Day 2: Rs. 7.40 crore
Day 3: Rs. 8.75 crore
Day 4: Rs. 3.35 crore
Day 5: Rs. 3.70 crore
Day 6: Rs. 2.80 crore
Day 7: Rs. 2.40 crore
Day 8: Rs. 1.85 crore
Day 9: Rs. 2.25 crore
Day 10: Rs. 2.75 crore (estimated)
Total: Rs. 42.75 crore
The film’s performance over the coming days will determine its final box office outcome. While it is expected to add a few more crores to its total, the current trend suggests that its theatrical run is approaching its final phase. With collections slowing down in the second week, the movie now faces the challenge of sustaining audience interest and maximizing its earnings before newer releases arrive in cinemas.
As things stand, Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai is heading towards a final box office total of around Rs. 50 crore nett in India.
