THE BODY movie review
Never judge a book by its cover. THE BODY cements this truth with a stamp that reads – trailers can be misleading to the hilt. So Jeethu Joseph the man behind the incredible DRISHYAM, PAPANASAM fails and keeps on failing considering that Jeethu Joseph just had to built on the ready-made plot – the Spanish film EL CUERPO.
Sujoy Ghosh did a remarkable job in the Amitabh Bachchan, Taapsee Pannu and Amrita Singh starrer BADLA – the official adaptation of the 2017 Spanish film THE INVISIBLE GUEST.
THE BODY remake of another Spanish movie but the result is so different.
Director Jeethu Joseph creates a flat adaptation and plays it so safe that it gets tepid and inept. Very disappointing that the premise of THE BODY had elements to add layers and present an insight but he adapts the familiar tried and tested methods that could have been done by anyone.
On top of that the filmmaker puts all the cards on the table very soon.
The actors try their best to be the saving grace where Rishi Kapoor brings his experience but the weakly constructed role plays the spoil sport.
Similarly for Emraan Hashmi who is in his element but his ‘grey’ characteristics in his role is not defined properly.
Sobhita Dhulipala is fantastic. Vedika Kumar leaves her mark.
Final words
THE BODY this body is mysteriously stolen from its thrilling heartbeats and the soul goes missing and missing and missing.
