Bobby Deol’s New Film Sparks Debate, Producer Responds

Producer Nikhil Dwivedi says Bobby Deol’s upcoming film is about justice, not gender, while commenting on the ongoing Twisha Sharma case.

Producer Nikhil Dwivedi has spoken about the subject of Anurag Kashyap’s upcoming film starring Bobby Deol, addressing concerns surrounding its storyline and clarifying the message the makers hope to convey. The film reportedly focuses on the life of an actor who finds himself caught in serious sexual assault allegations and the impact such accusations have on his life.

Speaking at The Newshour at 9 on Times Now, Dwivedi explained his connection to the project and the reason he chose to support the film. He said, “The subject was, and the people who got involved eventually became close to my heart.”

During the discussion, Dwivedi was asked whether the film could be interpreted as portraying women negatively while presenting men as victims. Responding to the concern, he stressed that the movie is not intended to be against women and should instead be viewed through the lens of justice and due process.

Referring to the ongoing Twisha Sharma death case, he said, “Our film is not against women. Whatever is happening with Twisha, we have been observing too. It’s unfortunate. It needs to be investigated. If there is a crime involved there, people need to be punished. This is not an anti-women film, it’s a pro-justice film. We have to understand that nobody is saying, please don’t believe women when they have been wronged.”

Dwivedi further explained that the film’s central theme is the importance of fairness and the legal process. According to him, supporting justice does not mean ignoring the experiences of those who come forward with allegations. Instead, he believes that every case should be handled through proper investigation and legal procedures.

Sharing his perspective, he added, “But you have to believe in justice as well. We want to believe in justice more than we want to believe a particular gender… that is the hallmark of our Constitution, our law. This is where the principle of our democracy stands. Justice needs to prevail.”

The upcoming film has attracted attention because of its sensitive subject matter and the discussions it may generate around allegations, investigations and the legal system. While details about the project remain limited, the producer’s comments suggest that the filmmakers aim to explore questions of accountability, fairness and justice rather than take a position against any gender.

As conversations continue around the film and its themes, the makers maintain that the story is intended to focus on the broader principle of justice and the importance of allowing the legal process to determine the truth in complex cases.
