‘All We Imagine As Light’ secures the prestigious Grand Prix at Cannes, with Chhaya Kadam leading the way. Directed by Payal Kapadia, it marks India’s return to the competition after a 30-year hiatus, competing for the coveted Palme d’Or.
In the spirited aftermath of the win, Chhaya, renowned for her roles in ‘Singham’ and ‘Madgaon Express,’ joyously dances, captured in a viral social media moment.
In a recent interview, she recounts a humorous exchange about her exuberant dance, embracing the significance of the achievement. “Why not?” she responds. “Just being in the main competition after 30 years is monumental, let alone our win. We express our happiness freely.”
Reflecting on the infectious jubilation, she shares, “Even the photographers requested us to keep dancing. There was so much happiness around.”
The Cannes Film Festival, spanning from May 14th to May 25th, marked a historic milestone for Indian cinema.
