Richa Chadha, the talented actress known for her versatility and critically acclaimed performances, is set to star in and produce a new musical comedy titled ‘Pinky Promise’. Written by Amitosh Nagpal, the film follows the story of a spirited dancer and a talented singer from rival Bhajan-Mandli families who find themselves entangled in a forbidden love.
Despite their families’ feud, the two protagonists embark on a joyous musical journey, creating a modern-day Romeo and Juliet tale with a heartwarming and happily-ever-after twist. The film is set in a small hillock town in Himachal Pradesh and promises to be a visually stunning and musically captivating experience.
Richa Chadha, who is currently basking in the success of her recent Netflix series ‘Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar’, will play the lead role of the dancer. The male lead, a talented singer, is yet to be cast. The film will be produced under Richa and her husband Ali Fazal’s production banner, Pushing Buttons Studios.
Amitosh Nagpal, known for his work on films like ‘Hindi Medium’, ‘Gulaab Gang’, ‘Aadhaar’, and ‘Sardar Ka Grandson’, has penned the script for ‘Pinky Promise’. The director for the film is yet to be finalized.
‘Pinky Promise’ is one of the six projects announced by Pushing Buttons Studios, which also includes a crime thriller, a fantasy drama, an adult animation, and a documentary about Richa and Ali’s wedding. The film is scheduled to go on floors at the end of October 2024, after Richa’s maternity break.
With ‘Pinky Promise’, Richa Chadha is set to add another feather to her cap, showcasing her talent not only as an actress but also as a producer. The film promises to be a musical treat, and audiences can’t wait to see what Richa and her team have in store for them.
