Dharmendra, affectionately known as the “He-Man” of Bollywood, has enjoyed a prolific career spanning several decades. He rose to prominence in the mid-1960s with a string of successful films that established him as one of the leading stars of the era. His memorable performances in movies like Ayee Milan Ki Bela, Phool Aur Patthar, Aaye Din Bahar Ke, Ankhen, Shikar, Aya Sawan Jhoom Ke, Jeevan Mrityu, Mera Gaon Mera Desh, Seeta Aur Geeta, Raja Jani, Jugnu, Yaadon Ki Baaraat, Dost, Sholay, Hukumat, Aag Hi Aag, and The Burning Train cemented his status as a versatile and beloved actor.

As his career progressed into the late 1990s, Dharmendra transitioned into character roles, continuing to impress audiences with his performances in films like Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya, Life in a… Metro, Apne, Johnny Gaddaar, and Yamla Pagla Deewana. These roles showcased his ability to adapt to the changing dynamics of the film industry while still maintaining his charm and screen presence.

In recent years, even as an octogenarian, Dharmendra has remained active in the film industry. He made headlines with his appearance in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani, where his on-screen kiss with veteran actress Shabana Azmi became a hot topic on social media. Dharmendra humorously compared this moment to his grandson Rajveer Deol’s liplocks in the film Dono, highlighting the generational continuity of romance in cinema.

Looking ahead, Dharmendra is set to star in Sriram Raghavan’s upcoming film Ikkis, alongside Agastya Nanda. The film, set against the backdrop of the 1971 Indo-Pak war, follows the life of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetrapal, offering Dharmendra yet another opportunity to showcase his enduring talent. His involvement in Ikkis continues to demonstrate his dedication to the craft and his ability to take on diverse and challenging roles, even after decades in the industry.
