Rihanna lightened the mood with her voting message by sharing a reel on Instagram where she humorously suggested that she would try to “sneak” into a polling booth. She joked about using her son’s passport to gain access while encouraging her fans to vote.
Despite her efforts, the Fenty Beauty mogul cannot vote because she retained her Barbados citizenship after moving to the U.S. in 2005. Although her two sons, RZA (2) and Riot Rose (14 months), are U.S. citizens through A$AP Rocky, Rihanna herself remains a Barbadian citizen. While she can’t vote, she still aims to highlight her concerns about the electoral process.

In her Instagram reel, she discussed the presidential election, emphasizing that every vote matters, especially regarding women’s rights. Her caption stated, “When protecting p*****s and firing p*****s can happen all in one vote #votecauseicant #TanSuitSeason,” referencing a political fashion statement.
While not explicitly stated, her caption subtly suggests support for Democratic candidate Kamala Harris, particularly given her well-known disdain for former President Donald Trump. The reel included the quip, “POV: me trying to sneak into the polls with my son’s passport #VoteCauseICant.” The 36-year-old pop star never changed her Barbadian citizenship, which means she is ineligible to vote in American elections.
In 2018, she was appointed an ambassador by the Government of Barbados, and in 2021, she was honored with the title of National Hero of Barbados. The Umbrella hitmaker has joined a long list of celebrities urging their followers to participate in voting, including Eminem, Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, Cardi B, Katy Perry, Beyoncé, Billie Eilish, Jennifer Lopez, Dick Van Dyke, John Legend, Harrison Ford, Jessica Alba, Demi Lovato, Scarlett Johansson, and Robert Downey Jr., all of whom have endorsed Kamala Harris for president while encouraging fans to cast their votes.
