BTS’ J-Hope is nearing the end of his 18-month military service, and his fans (ARMYs) are eagerly awaiting his discharge on October 17, 2024. Ahead of this milestone, J-Hope took to Instagram to share a playful post, featuring nine photos of himself in various locations, along with a cute appearance from his pet dog, Mickey. His caption read, “It’s October. I’ve put together a bunch of pretty even photos. See you on my discharge day. Enjoy it,” which further heightened excitement among fans for his return.

J-Hope enlisted in the military in April 2023, becoming the second BTS member to do so after Jin. During his service, he excelled in marksmanship and first aid, earning an early promotion to platoon leader and corporal. Before enlisting, J-Hope had solidified his solo career with his album Jack in the Box, and a collaboration with J. Cole on the track On the Street. He also released a documentary, J-Hope IN THE BOX, chronicling the journey behind his debut solo album.
Despite being in the military, J-Hope made his solo comeback in March 2024 with the EP HOPE ON THE STREET VOL. 1. Accompanied by a documentary of the same name on Amazon Prime Video, the docuseries highlighted his love for dancing and featured interactions with street dancers from around the world, including his hometown of Gwangju. This project added depth to his discography, offering a closer look at his artistic vision and passion.
He recently posted a mirror selfie, J-Hope reminisced about his early days in service, when he was nervous and unsure but now realizes everything would turn out just fine.
