At the 2026 Met Gala, the dress code “Fashion Is Art” encouraged celebrities to treat clothing like creative expression. Doja Cat, who is part of this year’s host committee, delivered a look that clearly followed this idea. She stepped out of her hotel in a semi sheer latex cloak designed by Saint Laurent, paired with what appeared to be a matching scarf. Her makeup also stood out and added to the overall impact of her appearance.
Her outfit showed how she uses fashion as a form of art rather than just clothing. The combination of bold material and styling made her look both striking and memorable, fitting well with the theme of the event.
In a recent conversation with Jack Harlow, she spoke openly about how she approaches fashion. She explained, “I think I try to balance between two different things: I like to be understated, but I have this need to be a little campy and a little crazy when it comes to fashion. A lot of these opportunities that I get to express myself publicly with fashion, I take them and I try to do something that feels like a performance piece, something that can inspire.”
Her statement reflects how she views fashion as more than just appearance. She sees it as a way to communicate ideas and emotions, especially during public events like the Met Gala.
At the same time, she shared that her personal style is different from what people usually see. She said, “It’s been really fun to build a catalog and do those things, but it’s fucking exhausting. In my personal life, I like to wear things that are more understated with a little bit of a twist to them. And then it’s just a lot of up and down with my choices. It’s been fun! I do kind of wish I could just have a uniform that I wear every day so I don’t have to think about anything. It’s not easy, sometimes getting dressed in the morning.”
This shows that while her public fashion is bold and creative, her everyday choices are simpler, and like many people, she sometimes finds it hard to decide what to wear.
