Ananya Panday is stepping into the digital realm with her upcoming series Call Me Bae, which is already generating buzz thanks to its vibrant trailer. The show, set to premiere on Amazon Prime Video on September 6, marks Ananya’s digital debut and has been well-received by audiences, with many praising her colorful and lively portrayal of a South Delhi girl trying to navigate life in Mumbai.

The trailer reveals Ananya’s character as a young woman from a wealthy background who faces a sudden downfall after her husband loses their fortune. Thrust into the unfamiliar and challenging world of Mumbai, she must adapt to a life that is far from the bougie existence she once knew. The story takes her through a series of struggles, including living in a house with a leaking roof, commuting by auto-rickshaws, and eventually landing a job at a newsroom. Vir Das plays her stern boss who initially dismisses her, setting the stage for a story about survival, resilience, and growth.

Suhana Khan, daughter of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan and a close friend of Ananya, expressed her excitement for the show. She shared the trailer on her Instagram stories, writing, “Already in love with Bae..I am so excitedddd @ananyapanday,” showing her support for Ananya’s new venture.

The series draws comparisons to the popular American sitcom Two Broke Girls, particularly in its premise of two women from different backgrounds learning to survive together in a challenging environment. However, Call Me Bae adds a distinct Indian flavor, blending humor and drama with the vibrant energy of Mumbai.

Call Me Bae is a Dharmatic Entertainment production, with Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, and Somen Mishra serving as executive producers. The series is penned by Ishita Moitra, Samina Motlekar, and Rohit Nair, and directed by Collin D’Cunha. The 8-part series features a strong ensemble cast, including Vir Das, Gurfateh Pirzada, Varun Sood, Vihaan Samat, Muskkaan Jaferi, Niharika Lyra Dutt, Lisa Mishra, and Mini Mathur, who add depth and diversity to the narrative.

As for Suhana Khan, she is preparing for her role in King, a film starring her father, Shah Rukh Khan. The film is expected to explore a mentor-protégé relationship between SRK and Suhana, with Abhishek Bachchan playing the antagonist. This project is highly anticipated, as it marks Suhana’s foray into the film industry, following in the footsteps of her illustrious father.

Fans of both Ananya Panday and Suhana Khan are eagerly looking forward to their respective projects, excited to see these young stars shine in their new roles.
