Taapsee Pannu’s portrayal of Rani Saxena in the 2021 romantic thriller “Haseen Dillruba” has indeed left a lasting impression on her fans. Interestingly, she wasn’t the first choice for the role. Screenwriter Kanika Dhillon had initially approached another actress for the lead. Taapsee showed interest in the film, but due to her commitments to another project, she missed the initial opportunity.
However, fate had other plans, and she eventually got a call from Kanika for a script narration. After hearing the script, Taapsee felt destined to play the role and immediately accepted it. Despite not being the typical choice for the character, she was excited about the challenge and the opportunity to portray a character with gray shades.
Taapsee is now preparing for the release of the sequel, “Phir Aayi Haseen Dillruba,” directed by Jayprad Desai, which also stars Vikrant Massey and Sunny Kaushal. The sequel is set to premiere on Netflix on August 9, 2024.
Meanwhile actress Taapsee Pannu expressed profound sorrow over the unexpected disqualification of Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat from the Paris Olympics. As Pannu anticipates the release of her film ‘Phir Aayi Haseen Dillruba’, she shared her heartfelt sentiments, saying, “In these games, there is no third umpire or a third judgment person. I’m heartbroken at what has happened, just like everyone else in the country right now.” Known for her enthusiasm for sports, Pannu reflected on the unpredictable nature of sports, recognizing that both victories and setbacks are integral parts of an athlete’s journey.
Phogat’s disqualification was a significant blow, especially since it occurred after she exceeded the weight limit marginally. This setback interrupted her historic run as the first Indian woman wrestler to reach an Olympic final.
