Actor Allu Arjun was arrested by the Telangana police on Friday afternoon in connection with the tragic death of a fan during the premiere of his latest film, Pushpa 2: The Rule, at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad. The incident occurred on December 4, when a massive crowd gathered to watch the film, resulting in a stampede. A fan, Revathi, died in the accident, and her young son was admitted to the hospital in a critical condition due to asphyxiation.
Arjun is the fourth person to be arrested in connection with the case after the arrests of the theatre owner and two employees. The police were filmed arriving at his home to take him into custody, as seen in videos circulating on X (formerly Twitter). In the video, Arjun can be seen wearing casual attire sporting Pushpa 2 merchandise and having a sip of coffee as he stands with his wife, Allu Sneha Reddy, brother Allu Sirish, and father, Allu Aravind. The actor looked cool as he sipped his coffee before bowing to the police.

During the exchange, Arjun had told the police that they had handled the situation inappropriately. He observed that they had honored his request to finish his coffee but that he felt uncomfortable with the manner in which the arrest was being carried out, especially regarding entering his bedroom. He told the police, “Sir, you haven’t honoured anything. I told you I wanted to change my clothes and send one person up with me.”. You are not wrong to take me in, but coming up to my bedroom is too much. That’s not good. In another moment, when his father Allu Aravind tried to accompany him in the police vehicle, Arjun insisted that only he should get credit for the situation, telling his father to get out of the vehicle.
The event has gained significant public attention, and Arjun later expressed his grief and concern towards the family of the victim. The actor has promised to financially help the bereaved family of the fan who was killed as a result of the crowd surge. The arrest has been one of the critical developments that have been experienced in the investigation process by the police since the unfortunate tragic crowd surge in the theatre.
