Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Joseph Vijay recently assigned portfolios to the nine ministers who took oath along with him on May 10. Among them, Egmore MLA Rajmohan was given important departments related to school education, Tamil development, information and publicity. He was also assigned responsibilities connected to archaeology, Tamil culture, film technology, the Cinematograph Act, government printing, stationery, and newsprint control.
However, the decision soon sparked discussion in the Tamil film industry. Actor Vishal openly questioned why Rajmohan was chosen to handle film related departments. Vishal said Rajmohan did not appear to have much experience or understanding of the current issues faced by the Tamil film industry. His comments quickly became a topic of debate among fans and industry members.

While some people agreed with Vishal’s concerns, many others defended Chief Minister Vijay and his decision. They felt that Vijay would have carefully thought about the appointment before making such an important decision. Actor and choreographer Raghava Lawrence was one of the strongest voices supporting the Chief Minister.
Taking to X, Raghava Lawrence requested everyone to remain patient and support the new minister. He wrote that Chief Minister Vijay would not have made the decision without proper thought and consideration. Lawrence also said that instead of reacting immediately, people should give Rajmohan some time to understand the role and work for the benefit of the film industry.
He further mentioned that he understands the concerns because the Tamil film industry is already facing several challenges. Still, he believed Rajmohan deserves a fair chance to prove himself as the minister in charge of film technology and the Cinematograph Act. Lawrence expressed hope that the minister would do his best for the welfare of the cinema fraternity.
This is not the first time Raghava Lawrence has publicly supported Vijay. Even before Vijay officially became Chief Minister, Lawrence had congratulated him and praised the people’s democratic decision. Sharing an old picture with Vijay on social media, he said the people’s mandate should always be respected and leaders must work together for the progress of the new government.
With this political victory, Vijay has now joined the list of famous actor turned political leaders like N. T. Rama Rao, M. G. Ramachandran, and J. Jayalalithaa. His party created a major political shift in Tamil Nadu by defeating both Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, two parties that dominated the state’s politics for decades.
