RJ Balaji Breaks Down in Tears After Karuppu Release Gets Delayed

Karuppu faced a sudden release delay as RJ Balaji emotionally apologised to disappointed fans.

Fans eagerly waiting for Karuppu were left disappointed after the film’s release was suddenly delayed on May 14. The movie, starring Suriya and Trisha Krishnan, was expected to hit theatres across several states, but many morning and afternoon shows were cancelled at the last moment. The confusion started when advance bookings for the film did not open on Wednesday evening, leaving fans worried about the release status.

As the situation became more stressful, filmmaker and actor RJ Balaji shared an emotional video on Instagram apologising directly to fans. Sitting inside a car, Balaji addressed the audience and said he was deeply sorry for everything that had happened. He mentioned that many fans had travelled from places like Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh to watch the film and he understood their disappointment. The emotional filmmaker struggled to control his tears while speaking and admitted that the delay should never have happened.

Balaji said he was hopeful that the issues surrounding the release would be solved by the evening. He added that many people had worked very hard for the film and made personal sacrifices to bring it to audiences. Speaking about actor Suriya, Balaji said the star had given a lot of effort and support to the project. He apologised once again for the stress caused to fans and expressed hope that the movie would finally release later in the day and become a big success. He ended the video on a positive note by saying that everything would work out well with God’s blessings.

Meanwhile, several theatres including Ega Cinemas officially announced the cancellation of afternoon shows through social media posts. The theatre management stated that the delay happened because of financial issues connected to producer Dream Warrior Pictures
. Refunds were initiated for ticket holders and cancellation messages were sent to customers. The theatre also informed fans that distributors were still trying to make the evening release possible, although nothing had been confirmed completely at that time.

Apart from Suriya and Trisha, Karuppu also stars Indrans, Natty Subramaniam, Swasika, Sshivada, Supreeth Reddy and Yogi Babu in important roles. The film is especially exciting for fans because it marks the fourth collaboration between Suriya and Trisha after popular films like Mounam Pesiyadhe, Aayutha Ezhuthu and Aaru.
