The recent political turmoil in Bangladesh, marked by the resignation and flight of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina after 15 years in power, has sparked widespread unrest and discussions, particularly concerning the safety and treatment of minorities in the country. As young protesters take to the streets expressing their frustrations over what they see as increasingly autocratic rule, various public figures have voiced their concerns about the situation.
Indian actor Hina Khan took to Twitter to express her dismay over the violence against Hindus and other minorities in Bangladesh amidst the ongoing unrest. She emphasized the importance of preserving the rights and safety of minority communities, highlighting that the loss of innocent lives is a tragedy regardless of country, caste, or religion. Hina, who is currently undergoing breast cancer treatment, conveyed her heartfelt prayers for the safety of all those suffering, particularly the minorities in Bangladesh, underlining that for her, humanity transcends all other considerations.

Similarly, actor and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut commented on the situation, asserting that the recent events in Bangladesh are indicative of a broader pattern she associates with Islamic republics, where she claims there are ongoing efforts to undermine other religions. Kangana, known for her often controversial remarks, stated that no one, including Muslims, is truly safe in these countries. She drew parallels with other nations facing turmoil, like Afghanistan and Pakistan, and expressed her relief at living in India, which she referred to as “Ram Rajya.”
Kangana also suggested that India’s role as the “original motherland” of surrounding Islamic republics is significant, noting that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s decision to seek refuge in India underscores the country’s stability and safety. She used this situation to argue in favor of India being a Hindu Rashtra, linking it to the concept of Ram Rajya, which she implies offers greater security and protection for all.
These comments come amid heightened tensions and concerns about the future of Bangladesh, especially regarding the protection and rights of its minority communities during this period of political instability.
