Konkona Sen Sharma Faces Career-Destroying Allegations in Accused Trailer!

A queer couple’s life spirals after a sexual harassment allegation threatens love, truth and trust in Netflix’s gripping psychological thriller Accused.

Netflix is gearing up to release a gripping psychological thriller that promises emotional complexity and moral ambiguity. Titled Accused, the film stars Konkona Sen Sharma alongside Laapataa Ladies breakout star Pratibha Ranta in a story that explores accusation, belief, and loyalty under intense public scrutiny.

Directed by Anubhuti Kashyap and produced by Dharma Productions’ digital arm Dharmatic Entertainment, the film dives into the fragile nature of trust when truth becomes uncertain. The trailer, unveiled recently, sets the tone for a layered narrative centered around a queer relationship tested by controversy and doubt.

Set in London, the story follows Geetika, a highly respected surgeon played by Konkona, and her partner Meera, portrayed by Pratibha. Both doctors, the couple is preparing to adopt a child when their lives are suddenly upended. Geetika finds herself accused of sexual harassment at her workplace — a development that sends shockwaves through her personal and professional life.

As the allegations begin to unravel everything she has built, Meera is left in an emotional limbo — torn between love and the unsettling possibility that she may not know the full truth. The film examines how quickly perception can replace certainty, especially when social judgment enters the equation.

Sharing the trailer, Karan Johar teased the emotional intensity of the story, hinting at the hidden truths within relationships and inviting viewers to question what they truly believe.

Speaking about her role, Pratibha described Meera as someone caught in a painful grey zone — aware of facts but emotionally unwilling to accept them. She called the character fragile, flawed, and deeply human, adding that platforms like Netflix allow space for such nuanced portrayals of women.

Director Anubhuti revealed that Pratibha was always in mind for the role after her impactful performance in Laapataa Ladies. According to her, Pratibha brought the right emotional depth and presence needed for Meera’s complex journey.

Written by Sima Agarwal and Yash Keswani, Accused explores themes of workplace misconduct, gender dynamics, and queer identity — all while probing the unsettling question: what happens when truth becomes subjective?

The film premieres on February 27 on Netflix.
