Amazon MGM Studios and Colour Yellow have announced their upcoming fantasy family entertainer Nayyi Navelli, starring Yami Gautam Dhar in the lead role. The film is directed by Balaji Mohan and is scheduled to release in cinemas across India on 16 October 2026, around the Dussehra festive period.
The movie is produced by Aanand L Rai and Himanshu Sharma, while the screenplay and writing have been handled by Himanshu Sharma and Divy Nidhi Sharma. G. V. Prakash Kumar has composed the music for the film.
Nayyi Navelli is set in Meerut and revolves around a newly married woman who appears to be the perfect bride. However, her arrival brings an unexpected change to her new family. What initially looks like a happy and peaceful household soon turns into a confusing situation when her brother in law starts suspecting that she may actually be a daayan, or witch.
The story combines family relationships, fantasy and comedy, with the unusual suspicion becoming the central source of conflict. The film is expected to explore the chaos that follows when the supernatural enters an otherwise ordinary family setting.
Speaking about the film, Nikhil Madhok, director and head of SVOD Originals, Prime Video India and Amazon MGM Studios, said, “As we saw Nayyi Navelli finally come together, there was an instant, collective realization that this is THE Dussehra film. No other date would do it justice,”

The film brings together Balaji Mohan as director and Aanand L Rai and Himanshu Sharma as producers. It also marks their collaboration with Amazon MGM Studios and Colour Yellow.
With its fantasy setting, family drama and comedy, Nayyi Navelli is being positioned as a festive theatrical release. The film will arrive in cinemas nationwide on 16 October 2026.
