Bhooth Bangla continued its box office run with a collection of around Rs. 21 crore in its third week. The horror comedy film earned approximately Rs. 1.40 crore on its third Thursday, taking its total India nett collection to Rs. 143 crore.
Directed by Priyadarshan, the film saw a drop of nearly 50 per cent compared to its second week collections. Despite the fall, the movie has managed to maintain a steady performance at the box office and is still attracting audiences in theatres.
Trade estimates suggest that the film could add another Rs. 9 crore to Rs. 10 crore during its fourth week. Since the movie currently does not have major competition at the box office, it is expected to continue benefiting from a free run in cinemas. With this trend, the film is likely to cross the Rs. 150 crore mark soon.
The final lifetime collection of Bhooth Bangla is currently expected to be between Rs. 155 crore and Rs. 160 crore. Much will depend on how the film performs during its fourth and fifth weeks.
The film’s success is also important for Akshay Kumar, who has faced a difficult period at the box office after the pandemic. Over the last few years, several of his films did not perform as expected. Last year showed some improvement with three films doing reasonably well, but Bhooth Bangla has now emerged as a clear HIT.
Akshay Kumar is known for releasing multiple films regularly, which industry experts believe helps maintain consistent audience interest in theatres. Unlike some actors who take two or three years between releases, Akshay has continued to deliver films every year. Ajay Devgn is another actor known for a similar high output in the industry.
The box office collections for Bhooth Bangla so far are Rs. 80.50 crore in week one, Rs. 41.50 crore in week two, followed by Rs. 4.50 crore on third Friday, Rs. 4.50 crore on third Saturday, Rs. 5.50 crore on third Sunday, Rs. 1.60 crore on third Monday, Rs. 2.00 crore on third Tuesday, Rs. 1.50 crore on third Wednesday and Rs. 1.40 crore on third Thursday.
